Gerald Fischer

Gerald has been an active member of the Fire Company for more than 50 years. Gerald, better known as Scorch, has served the Company in many capacities. In his younger years he was an active firefighter. He was also a member of the Marching Club until it was disbanded in 1950. Gerald was a Trustee for several years. He was Secretary from 1987-2002. Although he is no longer our Secretary, he still assists with these responsibilities. He gets the mail at the post office on a daily basis. He distributes the mail and takes care of the financial responsibilities of the Secretary. During his tenure as Secretary, Gerald was instrumental in securing financing for the numerous endeavors of the past 10 years. Gerald and Albert Schmitt spent a lot of time reviewing our financial position and options. Gerald and Albert prepared the applications for low-interest loans for our 1996 Simon Duplex-Salisbury Rescue Unit, our building addition in 1996, and the American LaFrance Fire Engine we purchased in 2002. Gerald continues to provide leadership and enthusiasm for the Fire Company. He helps out wherever needed and provides an example of quiet service to this organization.
